Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 17, 2026

BurstPick uses a local-first workflow. Your photos and scoring data stay on your device. This policy explains what data BurstPick accesses, what it transmits, and what it does not.

1. Local processing only

Photo analysis, burst clustering, ML scoring, preference learning, and face grouping run on your device using Apple CoreML, Vision, and Metal where available. Your photos are never uploaded to any server for culling. Catalogs, XMP sidecars, and scoring data are stored locally in open formats (SQLite, XMP).

2. Data collection

BurstPick does not track you and does not collect photos, personal media metadata, advertising identifiers, or tracking identifiers. Local diagnostic events may be stored on your Mac to help troubleshoot the app; remote telemetry is opt-in and disabled by default.

3. Network usage

BurstPick uses network access only for bounded app services: App Store purchases and restore through Apple's StoreKit framework, optional model downloads, optional update checks, and opt-in telemetry if enabled by the user. BurstPick works offline for photo analysis and scoring; photos are not uploaded for culling.

4. System permissions

BurstPick requests file-system read access to import photos and write access to save XMP sidecars and catalogs. No camera or photo library access is required. All permissions are scoped to user-selected folders via macOS sandboxed file access.

5. Data retention

Because BurstPick does not transmit your photos or personal data to our servers, there is no remote data retention by BurstPick. Apple may retain purchase transaction records under their own privacy policy.

6. Third-party services

BurstPick does not include advertising or tracking SDKs. StoreKit purchase processing is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Downloadable model assets and update metadata are fetched from BurstPick-controlled release infrastructure when requested.

7. Children's privacy

BurstPick does not collect any data from any user, including children. The app contains no user accounts, social features, or data collection mechanisms.
