Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 17, 2026

BurstPick is built for a local-first workflow. We designed the app so your photos and scoring data stay on your device. This policy explains what data BurstPick accesses, what it transmits, and what it does not.

1. Local processing only

All photo analysis, burst clustering, ML scoring, preference learning, and face grouping run entirely on your device using Apple CoreML and the Neural Engine. Your photos are never uploaded to any server. Catalogs, XMP sidecars, and scoring data are stored locally in open formats (SQLite, XMP).

2. Data collection

BurstPick does not collect personal data, usage analytics, crash reports, tracking identifiers, or advertising identifiers. We do not use any analytics SDK or telemetry framework.

3. Network usage

BurstPick uses network access only for the following purposes: (a) In-App Purchase transactions processed through Apple's StoreKit framework — purchase data is handled entirely by Apple under their privacy policy; (b) License key activation and validation via our license API (api.burstpick.app), which exchanges only the license key and a machine-bound identifier — no photos, metadata, or usage data are transmitted; (c) Optional update checks to determine if a newer version is available. BurstPick works fully offline for all photo analysis and scoring features.

4. System permissions

BurstPick requests file-system read access to import photos and write access to save XMP sidecars and catalogs. No camera or photo library access is required. All permissions are scoped to user-selected folders via macOS sandboxed file access.

5. Data retention

Because BurstPick does not transmit your photos or personal data to our servers, there is no remote data retention by BurstPick. Apple may retain purchase transaction records under their own privacy policy.

6. Third-party services

BurstPick does not include third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. The only third-party service interaction is Apple's StoreKit for In-App Purchase processing, governed by Apple's privacy policy.

7. Children's privacy

BurstPick does not collect any data from any user, including children. The app contains no user accounts, social features, or data collection mechanisms.
